P5+1 (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, Germany)

The P5+1 refers to the six world powers involved in negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program. The 'P5' includes the US, UK, France, Russia, and China—permanent UN Security Council members with nuclear capabilities—while '+1' is Germany, a key economic and diplomatic partner. The goal of these talks was to ensure Iran's nuclear activities remained peaceful, preventing the development of nuclear weapons, while providing Iran relief from sanctions. The agreement, known as the JCPOA, limits Iran’s nuclear capabilities in exchange for lifting some economic restrictions, promoting regional and global security.
