Pétillant naturel
Pétillant naturel, often called "pét-nat," is a type of sparkling wine made using a traditional method called méthode ancestrale. Unlike Champagne, which undergoes a second fermentation in a bottle to produce bubbles, pét-nat is bottled before fermentation is complete. This allows natural carbonation to develop inside the bottle, resulting in a lively, lightly fizzy wine with a cloudy appearance and often more pronounced fruit flavors. It’s appreciated for its rustic charm, lower intervention, and unique character, offering a fresh, expressive alternative to more polished sparkling wines.
