Oyo Wars

The Oyo Wars were a series of conflicts in the late 18th and early 19th centuries involving the Oyo Empire in present-day Nigeria. The empire, once powerful, faced internal struggles, external invasions, and rising pressures from neighboring states and European traders. These wars, including military campaigns and resistance efforts, weakened Oyo’s control over its territories, leading to its decline. The conflicts were driven by political instability, economic shifts, and changing regional alliances, ultimately marking the decline of Oyo as a dominant regional power.
