Oxygen binding

Oxygen binding refers to how our blood carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues. Hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells, captures oxygen molecules in the lungs where oxygen levels are high. It then releases the oxygen when it reaches tissues where oxygen levels are lower. This process is efficient because hemoglobin can bind to multiple oxygen molecules simultaneously, allowing blood to transport large amounts of oxygen quickly and effectively. This mechanism is essential for providing the energy cells need to function and sustain life.
