Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC)

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) was a U.S. government agency that supported American businesses in overseas markets by providing financing, insurance, and investment expertise. Its goal was to encourage economic development in developing countries while helping U.S. companies grow and create jobs domestically. OPIC facilitated investments in projects ranging from infrastructure to healthcare, promoting sustainable economic growth. In 2020, OPIC was succeeded by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which expanded its mission and resources to better support American investments abroad.
