Oudh

Oudh, also known as Awadh, was a princely state in northern India, with its capital at Lucknow. It was renowned for its rich culture, arts, and cuisine, especially its music and Mughlai-style dishes. Historically, Oudh was a semi-autonomous region under the Mughal Empire and later under British influence. In 1856, the British officially annexed Oudh, citing administrative reasons, which caused substantial local unrest. The region played a significant role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Today, Oudh's legacy persists in its cultural traditions and historical significance within modern Uttar Pradesh.
