Ottoman military
The Ottoman military was a highly organized and adaptable force that evolved over centuries. It featured a powerful standing army, including the elite Janissaries—infantry trained from Christian youths converted to Islam—and cavalry units like the Sipahi, who managed land and collected taxes. The Ottomans also employed innovative siege techniques and Gunpowder weaponry, such as artillery, giving them an edge in warfare. Military service was integrated with administration, supporting expansion across Southeast Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. Their flexible structure allowed them to defend and expand their empire for centuries, blending traditional methods with early modern technology.
