Otherness
Otherness refers to recognizing or perceiving someone or something as different from oneself or one's group. It involves understanding that individuals or entities have distinct identities, cultures, beliefs, or attributes that set them apart. This concept highlights the human tendency to categorize and sometimes differentiate based on differences, which can foster empathy and awareness when approached with openness, or lead to prejudice if handled insensitively. In essence, Otherness encourages us to acknowledge and respect diversity, fostering a more inclusive perspective towards people and experiences outside our own familiar frame.
