Osteophytes

Osteophytes, commonly known as bone spurs, are bony growths that form along the edges of bones or joints. They develop as a response to joint damage or degeneration, often seen with conditions like arthritis. These growths can sometimes cause pain, stiffness, or limit movement if pressed on surrounding tissues. Osteophytes are a natural part of the body's attempt to repair or stabilize affected joints, but their presence indicates underlying joint wear or injury. Treatment varies based on symptoms and may include medications, physical therapy, or, in some cases, surgery.
