
Ossetian
Ossetian is an Iranian-speaking ethnic group primarily residing in the Caucasus region, mainly in North Ossetia (Russia) and South Ossetia (a disputed territory). Their language, Ossetic, belongs to the Eastern Iranian language family and has unique linguistic features. Ossetians have a rich cultural heritage rooted in their ancient history and traditions, including distinct art, music, and folklore. Historically, they are descended from the Scythians and Sarmatians, nomadic tribes of the Eurasian steppes. Today, Ossetians maintain their cultural identity while adapting to modern influences, navigating complex political and territorial issues in the Caucasus.
