Osmoregulators

Osmoregulators are organisms that actively control their internal water and salt levels to maintain balance, regardless of the surrounding environment's conditions. Unlike organisms that closely match their internal fluids to their surroundings (osmoconformers), osmoregulators use specialized organs and processes, like kidneys or gills, to regulate salt and water intake and excretion. This ability allows them to survive in varied environments, such as freshwater or saltwater, by maintaining stable internal conditions vital for their body functions. Examples include mammals, birds, and some fish species.
