Original Medicare

Original Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older, as well as some younger individuals with certain disabilities. It generally has two parts: Part A covers hospital stays and inpatient care, while Part B covers outpatient services, doctor visits, and preventive care. Beneficiaries can see any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare. However, it doesn’t cover everything, so many choose additional coverage like Medigap or Medicare Advantage plans. Beneficiaries typically pay premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance, making it important to plan for associated costs and coverage needs.
