Optical Line Terminal (OLT)

An Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is a device used by internet providers to manage fiber optic network connections. It acts as the central hub at the provider's facility, sending internet signals through fibers to smaller distribution points called Optical Network Units (ONUs) or Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) located near or inside customer premises. The OLT coordinates and controls data flow, ensuring high-speed, reliable internet access. Essentially, it’s the main controller that manages the transmission of internet, television, and phone signals over a fiber optic network to deliver services efficiently to homes and businesses.
