Optical Fiber Communications

Optical fiber communications use thin strands of glass or plastic, called optical fibers, to transmit data as light signals. This technology relies on the principles of photonics, where light (photons) is used to carry information over long distances. The light travels through the fiber by bouncing off its walls, allowing for high-speed communication with minimal loss. Optical fibers are widely used in internet, telephone, and TV services because they can handle large amounts of data efficiently and are less susceptible to interference compared to traditional copper wires.
