Operation Ten-Go
Operation Ten-Go was a Japanese naval attack during World War II in April 1945, aimed at attacking Allied ships near Okinawa. It involved a fleet of aircraft carriers and battleships, but lacked sufficient aircraft carrier support. The plan was to inflict damage before American forces could establish a strong presence. However, American forces intercepted the Japanese fleet and launched air attacks, heavily damaging or sinking most of the Japanese ships, including the battleship Yamato. Operation Ten-Go ended in a decisive defeat for Japan, illustrating the declining effectiveness of their naval power late in the war.
