Operation Polo

Operation Polo was the Indian military invasion in September 1948 to annex the princely state of Hyderabad, which had not joined India after independence. The Nizam of Hyderabad remained autonomous and sought to retain independence, causing concerns about stability and security in the region. India launched a swift military operation, involving land and air forces, to integrate Hyderabad into the Indian Union. The operation lasted a few days, resulting in the Nizam surrendering and Hyderabad becoming part of India. It was a decisive move to unify India and eliminate regional separatism, shaping the nation's territorial integrity.
