Operation Anthropoid

Operation Anthropoid was a covert mission during World War II carried out by Czech and Slovak resistance fighters, with support from the Allies, to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking Nazi official and one of the main architects of the Holocaust. In 1942, two Czech agents, trained by British intelligence, infiltrated Prague and ambushed Heydrich's car, successfully killing him. The operation aimed to weaken Nazi control in occupied Czechoslovakia but resulted in brutal Nazi retaliation, including mass executions. It remains one of the most significant acts of resistance against the Nazi regime.
