Ontario Municipal Board
The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) was an independent tribunal that resolved disputes related to land use, development, and zoning matters within Ontario. It reviewed cases where individuals, communities, or developers disagreed with municipal decisions, such as building permits or zoning changes. The OMB provided a formal process for hearings and making binding decisions to ensure fair resolution based on provincial laws and planning policies. In 2019, it was replaced by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT), which continues to serve a similar role in adjudicating planning disputes in Ontario.
