Onondaga is one of the six nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, a historically powerful Native American confederation in the northeastern United States. Located in present-day central New York, the Onondaga serve as the cultural and political leadership within the confederacy, often acting as the confederacy’s political center. They have a rich history rooted in governance, diplomacy, and traditions passed down through generations. Today, the Onondaga Nation continues to preserve its language, culture, and sovereignty while engaging with broader society through cultural events and advocacy.
