Omagh bombing

The Omagh bombing occurred on August 15, 1998, in Omagh, Northern Ireland. A car bomb, planted by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), targeted the town center, causing massive destruction. Tragically, 29 people, including women and children, were killed, and over 200 were injured, making it one of the deadliest attacks in the Troubles. The bombing was intended to derail peace efforts but instead strengthened community resolve for reconciliation. It remains a somber reminder of the violence during Northern Ireland's conflict and the importance of peace and resolution.
