Ollier's Disease
Ollier's disease is a rare condition where abnormal growths of cartilage, called enchondromas, develop inside the bones, mainly in the hands and feet. These benign (non-cancerous) tumors can cause bones to become deformed, shorter, or weaker, leading to issues like misaligned limbs or swelling. The condition usually appears in childhood and progresses slowly. While generally not cancerous, there is a small risk that some enchondromas may turn into malignant tumors (chondrosarcomas) later in life. Treatment often involves managing symptoms and monitoring bone health, sometimes requiring surgery to correct deformities.
