Olfactory bulb
The olfactory bulb is a small structure located at the front of the brain, just above the nasal cavity. Its main function is to process smells detected by receptors in your nose. When you breathe in, odor molecules bind to sensory cells, which send signals to the olfactory bulb. The bulb then organizes and relays this information to other parts of the brain, allowing you to recognize and interpret different odors. It plays a critical role in your sense of smell, helping you detect everything from food flavors to hazards like smoke.
