Ohlone

The Ohlone are a group of Indigenous peoples native to the California coast, primarily around the San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay regions. Historically, they lived as hunter-gatherers, relying on native plants, animals, and fishing for sustenance. The Ohlone speak languages from the Utian family and have rich cultural traditions, including unique ceremonies and crafts. Today, they work to preserve their heritage, reclaim land, and educate others about their history. Despite colonization and displacement, the Ohlone people continue to maintain their cultural identity and advocate for recognition and rights.
