Office of Strategic Services (OSS)

The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a U.S. intelligence agency during World War II, established in 1942. It was responsible for gathering intelligence, conducting espionage, and supporting guerrilla warfare in enemy territories. The OSS played a key role in operations like sabotage and propaganda, working closely with other military branches. After the war, it was disbanded in 1945, but many of its functions and personnel eventually contributed to the formation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1947. The OSS is recognized as a pioneer in modern intelligence and special operations.
