Ocean Drilling Program (ODP)
The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) was an international scientific effort to study the Earth's deep oceans by drilling into the ocean floor. Using specialized ships with drilling rigs, scientists extracted core samples from beneath the seafloor to learn about Earth's history, climate change, plate tectonics, and the composition of the Earth's crust. This program provided valuable data for understanding geological processes and the history of our planet, expanding our knowledge of oceanic and planetary evolution.
