OAU Peacekeeping Operations
The Organization of African Unity (OAU), now known as the African Union (AU), conducted peacekeeping operations to help resolve conflicts and maintain stability in Africa. These missions involved sending trained personnel to areas experiencing war or violence to observe ceasefires, support peace agreements, and protect civilians. The goal was to restore peace, support political processes, and prevent further violence. OAU/AU peacekeeping efforts are collaborative, often working with international organizations, and aim to promote sustainable peace and security across the continent through diplomacy and neutral presence.
