Nystagmus
Nystagmus is a condition characterized by involuntary, repetitive eye movements. These movements can be side-to-side, up and down, or in a circular pattern. Nystagmus can occur when the eyes struggle to stabilize on a target, which can impact vision and balance. It may be present from birth (congenital nystagmus) or develop later due to various causes, such as neurological conditions, inner ear issues, or alcohol intoxication. While it does not always indicate a serious problem, it can affect daily activities and may require medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.
