Nueva España

Nueva España, or New Spain, was the colonial territory established by Spain in the Americas from the early 16th century until 1821. It included present-day Mexico, much of Central America, the Caribbean, and parts of the United States. The region was governed by Spanish authorities and was rich in resources like gold, silver, and agricultural products. It played a key role in Spain's global empire, with a society structured around Spanish colonial administration, indigenous peoples, and imported African slaves. Nueva España's legacy includes a lasting influence on culture, language, and institutions in the region.
