North Carolina History

North Carolina's history began with indigenous tribes like the Cherokee and Catawba. In the 16th century, European explorers arrived, followed by settlers in the 17th century. It became a royal colony in 1729. During the American Revolution, North Carolinians played a key role, and it was the first state to instruct delegates to vote for independence. The state experienced significant conflict during the Civil War, aligning with the Confederacy. Post-war, it underwent Reconstruction, and in the 20th century, agricultural and industrial growth transformed the economy. Today, North Carolina is known for its diverse culture and robust economy.
