normative claims

Normative claims are statements that express judgments about what ought to be, what is right or wrong, good or bad. They reflect values, beliefs, or ideals about how things should be, rather than describing how things actually are. For example, saying "People should be honest" is a normative claim because it expresses a moral preference. These claims guide decision-making and behavior based on standards or principles, and are often central to ethics, politics, and social debates. Unlike descriptive claims, which simply describe facts, normative claims involve subjective evaluations about desirability or correctness.
