Non-pharmaceutical interventions
Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) are strategies used to control the spread of diseases without relying on medications or vaccines. They include measures like social distancing, wearing masks, hand hygiene, and limiting gatherings. These actions aim to reduce transmission and protect public health, particularly during outbreaks. NPIs are often implemented in response to infectious diseases, such as during flu season or pandemics, to prevent healthcare systems from becoming overwhelmed and to safeguard vulnerable populations.
