Nomarchs

Nomarchs were regional governors or administrators in ancient Egypt, particularly during the Middle Kingdom and later periods. They managed large territories called nomes, overseeing local governance, justice, and resources on behalf of the Pharaoh. Nomarchs held significant authority within their regions, ensuring stability and prosperity, and often acted independently in times of weak central control. Their position was both political and administrative, serving as a vital link between local communities and the central government in Memphis or Thebes.
