Nogai people

The Nogai people are a Turkic ethnic group primarily living in southern Russia, particularly in the North Caucasus and Terek River regions. They speak the Nogai language, a member of the Turkic language family, and traditionally practice Islam. Historically, they descended from the nomadic Nogai Horde, a confederation of tribes that played a significant role in the Eurasian steppes from the 15th to 17th centuries. Today, the Nogai are recognized as an ethnic minority, maintaining their cultural customs, oral traditions, and unique identity within the broader multiethnic landscape of Russia.
