NK1R

NK1R, or neurokinin-1 receptor, is a protein found on the surface of certain cells in the body, particularly in the brain and nervous system. It binds to a natural chemical called substance P, which is involved in transmitting pain signals, regulating mood, and controlling inflammation. When substance P attaches to NK1R, it activates the receptor and triggers various responses, such as feeling pain or stress. Because of its role in pain and emotional responses, NK1R is a target for medications aimed at treating depression, anxiety, and pain conditions.
