NISA (Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency)

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) was a Japanese government body responsible for ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants and industrial facilities. Established after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011, NISA monitored compliance with safety regulations, conducted inspections, and assessed risks associated with nuclear energy. Its goal was to protect public health and the environment while promoting the safe use of nuclear technology. In 2015, NISA was integrated into the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA), which continues to oversee nuclear safety in Japan.
