Nicolas de Condorcet

Nicolas de Condorcet was an 18th-century French philosopher and mathematician known for his work on human progress and democracy. He believed that society could improve through education and rational thinking, and he championed ideas of equality and political rights. Condorcet also developed a method for voting called the “Condorcet method,” which aims to identify the most preferred option by comparing each choice against others in pairwise matches. His ideas laid important groundwork for modern democratic theory and encouraged the pursuit of reason, science, and social improvement.
