niche partitioning

Niche partitioning is the process by which different species in the same habitat adapt to use resources in different ways, reducing competition. Imagine a forest where several bird species live. One species might feed on insects in tree trunks, another on nectar from flowers, and a third on seeds from the ground. By occupying different "niches," or specific roles, these birds can coexist without competing for the same food. This allows for greater biodiversity and a balanced ecosystem, as each species contributes uniquely to the environment.
