New Fourth Army
The New Fourth Army was a Chinese military force formed in 1937 during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Originally part of the Chinese Communist Party’s military, it was tasked with resisting Japanese invasion and reorganized from earlier Communist units. The army operated mainly in central China and played a key role in localized resistance and guerrilla warfare against Japanese forces. Despite some political tensions with the Chinese Nationalist government, the New Fourth Army contributed significantly to China’s wartime resistance and the eventual Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War.
