New England Anti-Slavery Society
The New England Anti-Slavery Society, founded in 1832, was one of the earliest organizations dedicated to ending slavery in the United States. It was established by abolitionists who believed slavery was morally wrong and needed immediate action. The society promoted protests, petitions, and education to raise awareness and push for legislative change. Its efforts contributed significantly to the anti-slavery movement, helping to garner public support and eventually leading to the abolition of slavery with the 13th Amendment in 1865. The society also aimed to support African Americans’ rights and freedom.
