New Caledonia

New Caledonia is a French territory located in the South Pacific Ocean, northeast of Australia. It consists of a large main island, known as Grande Terre, and several smaller islands. The region is known for its rich biodiversity, beautiful coral reefs, and indigenous Kanak culture. Though it is part of France, New Caledonia has a unique status, allowing for a degree of self-governance and a population that is a mix of indigenous Kanak people and descendants of French colonists. In recent years, there have been discussions about independence from France, reflecting a desire for greater autonomy.
