Neurohypophysis

The neurohypophysis, also known as the posterior pituitary, is a small part of the brain that releases hormones into the bloodstream. It stores and secretes hormones like vasopressin (which helps regulate water balance) and oxytocin (which influences childbirth and milk release). These hormones are produced in the hypothalamus and then transported to the neurohypophysis, where they are stored until needed. To the body, it serves as a release station, ensuring important hormones reach the bloodstream to help control fluids, blood pressure, and reproductive processes.
