Neurofibromas

Neurofibromas are noncancerous (benign) growths that develop from nerve tissue. They typically appear as soft, skin-colored or pigmented bumps, and can occur singly or in groups. These growths arise when the cells surrounding nerves proliferate abnormally, often caused by genetic factors like neurofibromatosis type 1. While usually not serious, neurofibromas can sometimes cause discomfort, cosmetic concerns, or, in rare cases, become cancerous. Management depends on size, location, and symptoms, ranging from monitoring to surgical removal if needed.
