Nervous tissue

Nervous tissue is a specialized type of tissue in the body that transmits signals to coordinate actions, sensations, and thoughts. It is made up of neurons, which are cells that send electrical impulses, and supporting cells called glia that assist and protect neurons. This tissue forms the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, enabling communication between different parts of the body and the brain. Nervous tissue plays a vital role in sensing stimuli, controlling muscles, regulating internal functions, and enabling cognitive processes like thinking and memory.
