Nerve impulses
Nerve impulses are electrical signals that travel along nerve cells (neurons) to transmit information quickly throughout the body. When a neuron is stimulated, it creates an electrical change across its membrane, producing an impulse. This impulse moves rapidly from one part of the neuron to another, eventually reaching the end of the neuron where it signals muscles, organs, or other neurons to respond. Think of it like a message sent through an electrical cord, enabling your body to react swiftly to stimuli, such as touching something hot or hearing a sound.
