Nerve Conduction Studies
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) are tests used to evaluate the health of the nerves and how well they transmit electrical signals. During the procedure, small electrodes are placed on the skin over the nerve, and a mild electrical impulse stimulates the nerve. The speed and strength of the nerve's response are measured, helping doctors identify issues like nerve damage, compression, or disease. NCS are often part of a larger examination to diagnose conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome or neuropathy, providing valuable information about nerve function and overall health.
