Nephrons

Nephrons are the tiny filtering units of the kidney, each acting like a sophisticated filter. They remove waste products and excess substances from the blood, regulate water and electrolyte levels, and help control blood pressure. Each kidney contains about a million nephrons, which process blood through a network of small blood vessels and tubules, ultimately producing urine. This process maintains the body's fluid and chemical balance, essential for healthy functioning. Essentially, nephrons are the kidney’s specialized structures responsible for cleaning blood and maintaining overall homeostasis.
