Neoplasia

Neoplasia is the process where cells in the body grow uncontrollably and form a mass called a tumor. This abnormal growth happens because of changes or mutations in the cells’ DNA, which disrupt their normal regulation. Neoplasms can be benign (non-cancerous) and not spread, or malignant (cancerous) and invade surrounding tissues or spread to other parts of the body. This uncontrolled cell growth can interfere with normal bodily functions and requires medical evaluation to determine the nature of the growth and appropriate treatment.
