Neonatal Cardiology
Neonatal cardiology is a specialized branch of medicine that focuses on heart-related issues in newborns and premature infants. It involves diagnosing and treating congenital heart defects, which are heart problems present at birth, as well as other heart-related conditions that can arise after birth. Neonatal cardiologists work closely with neonatologists—doctors who care for critically ill newborns—to ensure these infants receive comprehensive, tailored care, including monitoring heart function, prescribing medications, and, if necessary, planning surgical interventions to support healthy heart development. The goal is to improve outcomes and quality of life for these vulnerable patients.
