Negligence torts

Negligence torts occur when someone unintentionally causes harm to another because they failed to act with the care that a reasonable person would in the same situation. To establish negligence, it must be shown that the defendant owed a duty of care, breached that duty, and caused injury as a result. Common examples include car accidents or medical mishaps. The goal of negligence law is to hold individuals accountable for preventable harm and to compensate those injured due to another’s failure to take proper precautions.
