A negative feedback loop is a process that helps maintain stability by reducing or reversing changes. When a system detects a change from its normal state, it activates mechanisms to counteract that change and bring the system back to balance. For example, in regulating body temperature, if you get too hot, your body sweats to cool down; if you get too cold, your body shivers to produce heat.
